Katrin Hübner

While a pupil at the Berlin Musikgymnasium C.-Ph.-E.-Bach, at the age of 13 Katrin Hübner became a student at the School of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin. At 17 she received her first conducting lesson. She studied bassoon and music education specialising in choir conducting at the Cologne University of Music and the Berlin University of the Arts.

In 2010 she founded the Lichtenberg Chamber Choir, and has conducted the choir ever since.

A central area of focus of her artistic activity has been combining the European vocal tradition with non-European compositions and singing techniques. In collaboration with the musicians Mạnh Hùng Lê and Phương Hoa Trần she developed new arrangements of Vietnamese music. That developed into Project BERLIN | HANOI | 2023 with the Lichtenberg Chamber Choir, and in 2025 she led the choir’s concert tour to Vietnam.

In addition, Katrin Hübner conducts the PlanckTon Youth Choir, which was selected with her at the helm as the Patenchor of the RIAS Chamber Choir in 2016/17.

She regularly works with a variety of choirs, and contributes to numerous artistic projects. In addition she serves on the board of the Chorverband Berlin (choir association of Berlin). 

In 2024 Katrin Hübner received the Geschwister-Mendelssohn-Medaille for her outstanding contributions to choir singing in Berlin.
